About Chimera Pathways
Bridging science and the human spirit
Chimera Pathways is a psychotherapy telepractice, where clinical science meets whole-person transformation, a virtual haven for science-backed mental health recovery. Here, mental health problems are reframed as opportunities for self-compassion, self-empowerment, values-oriented behavioral change, and personal growth.
Chimera Pathways was founded in 2025 by Terence Ching, PhD, and is the culmination of over 15 years of cutting-edge research personally conducted by Dr. Ching. Chimera Pathways offers services to individuals in PSYPACT-participating states.

About Terence Ching, PhD
Terence Ching, PhD (he/him) is the Founder of Chimera Pathways. Dr. Ching is a Yale-, Dartmouth-, and UConn-trained clinical psychologist licensed in CT, and a member of several psychology professional organizations and scientific journal editorial boards.
Dr. Ching has vast academic and clinical expertise in mood, anxiety, and trauma-based disorders, especially obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He has published extensively on these topics, and interweaves his academic knowledge into his clinical work in accordance to the scientist-practitioner model.
At Chimera Pathways, Dr. Ching specializes in evidence-based, integrative, culturally attuned, and queer- and trans-affirming cognitive-behavior therapies (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in his work with clients.
Dr. Ching is also an Instructor on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. There, he leads psychedelic clinical trials (namely, psilocybin) for OCD, depression, and other disorders as part of the Yale OCD Research Clinic and the Emerging and Novel Applications for Consciousness-Altering Therapeutics (ENACT) Research Collaborative, housed within the Yale Program for Psychedelic Science. In these spaces, Dr. Ching also assumes the role of Director of Psychedelic Training, pioneering the training and supervision of numerous facilitators who work with study participants in psychedelic dosing sessions.
In the psychedelic therapy space, Dr. Ching is an extensively published global leader in culturally attuned, queer- and trans-affirming, and ethically rigorous care of individuals experiencing altered states of consciousness. Dr. Ching has served as a study therapist in pivotal clinical trials of MDMA-assisted therapy (MDMA-AT) for PTSD, and has substantial experience providing ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) for individuals with varied mental health problems.
Dr. Ching lends this expertise to integration services at Chimera Pathways for clients seeking to collaboratively process previous profound psychedelic/ketamine experiences, in service of meaningful integration of these experiences into their lives moving forward.
Dr. Ching is an internationally sought after scientific speaker. He also has significant consulting experience in various aspects of psychedelic research and practice, having trained hundreds of study therapists for multiple companies who have achieved FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation in their drug development programs. He welcomes inquiries into these services by interested organizations, outlets, and companies.
The Logo
Designed by Dr. Ching, the logo reflects not only the English letters for the practice's name, but also the Chinese characters for fire (火) and wood (木) blending together, not burning out.
Thus, the logo is a visual metaphor for the hybridity and intersectionality of one's chimeric identities, and the ability to hold space for dialectical states. These are learnings Dr. Ching has gleaned from his years of psychedelic therapy training, and which he hopes to transmute into his work with clients.
Stay awhile with the logo, and other layers reveal themselves. While some may see a peace sign, others may perceive a winding route in search of solutions, arriving at forking paths.
These are symbolic of alternate possibilities one can seize in the face of mental health challenges, eventually breaking through to a values-driven life moving forward.
Dr. Ching intends the logo to serve as an evocative reminder for approaching your problems from various creative vantage points, rather than remaining stuck in the same rigid patterns of thinking.

Services
1. CBT and ACT
This service is the gold standard for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, and/or trauma- and stressor-related disorders. Dr. Ching delivers care that is individualized, integrative, culturally attuned, and queer- and trans-affirming.
2. Psychedelic/ketamine integration
The science has shown integration to be helpful for extending benefits from therapeutic use of consciousness-altering medicines. As such, clients who are undergoing concurrent ketamine/esketamine (Spravato) treatments are especially suitable for this service. Other suitable clients include those who have found therapeutic benefits from previous psychedelic/ketamine experiences, and would like more dedicated time and space to explore, process, and integrate insights from these experiences in a therapeutic setting.
While ketamine is approved for depression, psychedelics are currently Schedule I controlled substances and are considered illegal to consume outside of research and religious contexts. This service does not involve the administration of psychedelics, ketamine, or other psychoactive agents. Rather, the emphasis is on collaboratively processing previous profound psychedelic/ketamine experiences in service of integrating meaningful insights into one's life moving forward. Dr. Ching may also incorporate CBT, ACT, and harm reductionist principles into the integration process.
3. Psychedelic research consulting, therapy training, therapist career coaching, and speaking engagements
The Treatment Process
The therapeutic process with Dr. Ching is a multi-step one, starting with a free 15-minute secure video consultation to assess client-therapist fit.
Clients will then complete a comprehensive 2-hr intake with Dr. Ching to arrive at a better understanding of your mental health history and your current priorities, in order to best inform therapy.
Therapy then begins at a weekly cadence over 60-min sessions, with an initial collaborative treatment planning phase (1-2 sessions) to establish details of current problems and corresponding goals. Regular sessions follow, during which integrative CBT and ACT skills and strategies are learned, absorbed, and enacted, in order to maintain benefits post-treatment. The course of treatment may vary depending on your goals and progress, ranging from 18-25 weekly sessions, up to a few years.
Psychedelic/ketamine integration is also available if appropriate. This may occur at separate regular sessions, or integrated into your current course of treatment, whichever makes the most clinical sense.

The extent of reimbursement varies based on what your plan covers for out-of-network mental health care, as well as your annual deductible. If you intend to seek reimbursement for therapy via your insurance, it is best to call the phone number on the back of your insurance card ahead of treatment.
